#285 - A spectacular American or British Sampler. Ex collection Dr.Hamilton, Dundas, On. Signed "Jean Reid" age 12, 1824. Sampler is decorated with animals, birds, trees, adam and eve and the borders are decorated with tulips. The center has a very majestic house. One of the best sampler's that I have ever seen. Holds two watches suggesting the owner was a wealthy person.Made of fruitwood and represents a Triumphal Arch.The Lion(allegory of strength),the Wreath of Laurels( allegory of Victory),the Eagle(the symbol of the Emperor,Napoleon)and the Dog(allegory of Faithfulness).A very outstanding piece of folkart. Dutch Delft plate with Adam and Eve harvesting and all sorts of flowers and leaves around the border. This could be early 18th.or possibly 17th. century. The figures depicted makes the plate quite rare. 8 3/4in. diameter. 325.18th.century Dutch Delft commemorative lobbed dish.The centre with a picture of "William Of Orange"and initials "KW".11 1/2in by 2 1/4in.(29cm by 5 1/2cm). 443.Swedish Mora tall case clock dated 1835 and initialed "OFB". The clock face is signed "Ola Akesson"(maker) from Galleryda, Sweden.The initial"B"suggest it was made for his son.This is an exceptional clock ,it has a rooster,crown,signed,dated and a tree of life carving.The color and the providence adds to it as well. 101.Swedish bonad painting on linen.Painted by Johannes Nilsson(1757-1827).Subject"Marraige Feast in Cana".Condition is very good.Size:88cm by 98cm(35in by 39in). 469.The reverse of the Banner with all sorts of Orange Lodge symbols etc. 469.Orange lodge banner with King Billy on his horse.The banner is signed Mrs.Wm.W.Horton,Carleton Place,July 1870.Size 78in by 75in.
